2007- The Scotia Group, Vice President. Responsible for leading efforts in Latin America in addition to assisting in the strategic direction of the company.

2006-2007 The Scotia Group, Manager of Latin American Business Development. Responsible for expansion of Scotia’s business in Latin America and in providing leadership for integrated study teams working in this area.

Louis G. Rivera
2004-2006 Geovensa, LLC, Manager of Business Development, Venezuela. Responsible for setting up company branch in Venezuela for private U.S. company. Accountable for all legal, administrative, accounting, and contractual issues. Negotiation of joint ventures and technical alliances with key local and international companies. Designed and presented several large field studies, gas strategies (regional and local), and exploration proposals to PDVSA upper management.

2002-2004 CGG-Exgeo, Manager of Reservoir Services, Maracaibo and Villahermosa. Managed integrated team of 21 professionals including; reservoir engineers, simulation engineers, geophysicists, geologists, geostatisticians, heavy oil experts, petrophysicists, legal, administrative and IS personnel. Integrated reservoir characterization studies (static to dynamic models) for giant world-class fields. Negotiation of new contracts, development of new business, all budgeting processes, technical presentations.

2001-2002 Venoco, Inc., Senior Geologist, International New Ventures. Responsible for new business development, production/field acquisitions and evaluations. Liason with Department of Energy and their technology transfer program to third world markets.

1999-2000 St. Vrain Resources, Senior Geologist. New Ventures/New Business strategy development and implementation, acquisitions, and development. Current emphasis: Latin America, Africa, The Middle East, the Rockies, and the Gulf Coast. Quality Assurance Auditor for production/development and exploration projects. Evaluation of acquisition/bidding opportunities, integrated field studies, marginal fields and delineation of structural/stratigraphic frameworks.

1997-1999 Sipetrol (USA), Inc., Team Leader. Implemented/expanded Latin American strategy / focus areas. Evaluations of farm-in opportunities, regional assessments, reactivation/development projects, production acquisitions and study/bidding groups.

1993-1997 Ampolex (USA), Inc., Team Leader, South America Region. Created aggressive Latin American strategy. Established exploration/production portfolio. Hands-on evaluation of farm-in opportunities, reactivation/acquisition projects, regional evaluations and bidding rounds. Manager of Latin American operations in Venezuela and Colombia. Technical contributions to all exploration/production projects while responsible for multidisciplinary team of fifteen professionals/support staff (including engineering, computer, legal, accounting/finance). Contract negotiations, liaison to government entities, and international oil companies, market analysis, business development, and corporate budgeting.

1990-1993 British Gas Exploration & Production, Inc., Area/Project Geologist-New Ventures, West Africa. Responsible for review of farm-in opportunities, acquisitions, regional evaluations, establishing strategy, and developing new exploration methods. Projects worked: Ivory Coast, Benin, Gabon, Congo, Angola, Namibia, Cameroon and Chad areas.

1984-1990 Marathon Oil Company, Senior/Chief Geologist-Worldwide Ventures and Governmental Affairs Group. Worldwide evaluations resulted in recommendations for acquisitions in South America, Africa, N.W. Europe and the Far East. Senior advisor on negotiating teams.

1982-1984 St. Joe Petroleum Corporation, Senior Geologist – International Exploration Division. Coordinated activities in: Egypt-Gulf of Suez, W. Desert, U.K. (onshore, N. Sea), Dutch N. Sea, Adriatic area, Papua New Guinea, and Australia.

1978-1982 Cities Service Company, Senior Explorationist – Europe/Africa/Middle East Region. Implemented regional studies, acreage acquisition, prospect generation, and new play concepts. Core areas: Somalia, Kenya, Madagascar, Mozambique, Tanzania, and Angola.
