Reserves & Economics

Scotia's MASTER database, engineering and economic evaluation package is the cornerstone of our reserves work. This system allows public domain production and test data to be directly downloaded and analyzed using sophisticated interactive graphics. Projections are performed using rate-time, rate-cum, P/Z-cum and WOR-cum plots, and the results automatically loaded to construct cash flows. This system is much faster and more flexible than commercial systems such as ARIES or OGRE, allowing Scotia to perform large PDP reserves evaluations quickly and cheaply.

Capabilities include:

  • Interactive curve fitting and automatic re-expression in a variety of displays.
  • Automatic consolidation to allow analysis at the reservoir, field, company, etc. levels.
  • Availability of a volumetric system to allow integration of performance data with reservoir volumetrics for calculation of recovery efficiencies, drainage patterns, and so on.
  • Ability to use Fetkovich type-curves to determine hyperbolic exponents and reservoir parameters.
  • Ability to integrate well test data into the analysis, calculate inflow performance and predict rates under different backpressure conditions.
  • Construction of analog data sets and statistical analyses for use in prospect evaluations.
  • Scheduling of recompletions and undeveloped locations may be automatically adjusted to account for changes in abandonment timing due to running differing price sensitivities.
FPO
Scotia performs annual reserves appraisals for a number of private and public companies. These reserves reports are used for regulatory reporting (SEC 10-K), for bank loan coverage as well as being used for internal planning and documentation. Our reports include a graphical representation of all decline curve projections along with standard cash flow tables. This allows rapid third party review. Our reserves evaluations range in size from a few dozen to over 11,000 wells.
