Scotia's exploration and production geologists have extensive domestic and international experience performing studies ranging from single prospect evaluations to multi-disciplined basin studies. Integrating the geophysical, petrophysical and engineering skills of our staff and associates, we develop innovative technological solutions to your geological problems. Some of our services include:

Prospect Appraisals: Let Scotia's geologists screen your prospect submittals, so that your time can be used more effectively. We can assess the technical and economic merits of each prospect, risk, rank, or eliminate and determine whether each prospect fits within your exploration strategy.

Mature Field Exploitation Studies: Much of the work conducted by our geologists involves the identification and quantification of reserves growth potential in mature fields. Through the combination of seismic, structure, stratigraphy and reservoir performance, reservoir heterogeneity and ultimately bypassed reserves can be identified, enabling the client to exploit the full potential of the field.

Reservoir Characterization: This typically involves the detailed correlation and subdivision of reservoir parasequences and mapping of depositional facies to define reservoir geometry and interwell connectivity. Newer fields may require definition of the sequence stratigraphic framework through analysis of biostratigraphic, well log and seismic data. Log and petrographic data are integrated with routine and special core analyses to define hydraulic flow units, pore geometry and the distribution and movement of reservoir fluids. Scotia uses 3-D Visualization as an aid in characterizing critical reservoir elements.

GIS Project Construction: Scotia is able to build reservoir projects into a GIS workstation environment in preparation for analysis either by the client or us. Data assembly and loading for management, interpretation and spatial visualization of properties can be on a lease, field or basin wide scale. Client well/production/map data can be loaded or supplemented with vendor information. Once built, an extensive variety of maps and layers can be created and the project files exported in a variety of formats for loading into the client's workstation.
