Reservoir simulation and detailed reservoir studies are a growing part of Scotia's business. Our simulation team is headed by Ian Howrie, who has spent most of his 30-year professional career in this field and is a recognized expert. Applying commercial simulators, most reservoir fluid types and recovery processes can be studied. We have worked with the following systems:
- ECLIPSE 100, black oil simulator; ECLIPSE 200, local grid refinement, polymer, miscible gas flood and pseudo compositional options; and ECLIPSE 300, compositional simulator.
- TETRAD, four mode operation, black oil, multicomponent, thermal or geothermal, dual porosity/permeability, pressure dependent porosity and permeability, local grid refinement, irregular and curvilinear gridding and implicit wellbores.
- IMEX, black oil with pseudo miscible and polymer options, flexible gridding, elastic/plastic deformation, dual porosity/permeability, with single block, MINC and subdomain options for improved treatment of imbibition and drainage.
- CMGPROP, phase property package, multiphase equilibrium, equation of state, regression, process simulation, phase diagrams.
- DOE models: chemical flood, CO2 flood, in-situ combustion, polymer flood and steam flood predictive models.
Since the success in constructing a reliable simulation model is dependent upon having an accurate reservoir description, we place emphasis on a team approach involving all necessary technical disciplines. This integrated approach provides our clients with the assurance that the problem has been thoroughly researched from a variety of viewpoints and that our recommendations are supported from all technical perspectives.
